Sunshine Blogger Award

Last week, I was kindly nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award, by the lovely Sarah, over at sarahscupoftea.com . Which is a really wonderful way to get to know our favourite bloggers a little better. I’ve finally come in from the snow, and found a moment to sit down and think, so here are my answers for Sarah’s questions! I have also tagged a few other ladies to participate if you fancy it.

Questions from Sarah:

1 What do you love most about blogging?

I can express myself, and talk about the things that matter to me openly. I have also been able to use it as an outlet for subjects I otherwise would have struggled to talk about, and have been able to reach out to other people. My most personal post to date, Weathering The Storm, had such an overwhelming response, and knowing I was able to reach out to other people who had endured this manner of heartbreak, and in turn, give them hope, was really something very special. I feel very grateful to have this platform to use my voice for good.

2 What do you do to relax?

Honestly? My ultimate relaxation is time spent with my family. By that I don’t just mean being in the company. I mean switching my 3G off, dusting off the board games, going for along walk, being silly with my favourite people in the world, and truly being present in the moment, and relishing in the company of those I hold dear.

3 How do you come up with ideas for your blog/where do you get inspiration?

Unlike many bloggers, I do not follow I schedule. Numbers aren’t important to me, and I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket in the hole that my blog will ‘blow up’ and be deemed a ‘success’. I like to try to deliver new content at least once every two weeks, but I follow a strict rule of, if I don’t feel like it, I won’t force it. Blogging is a hobby for me, and when I create content, the words flow freely. The reason why is because I really do only post the things I feel passionate about, or excited about sharing! I have had products I intended to review, but ultimately I wasn’t excited by it, so I didn’t. I guess ultimately, I find inspiration and get ideas to blog about, when something really excites me! Unfortunately (though I’d actually say very fortunately), I lead a pretty hectic lifestyle as a working, toddler mama, and avid fitness enthusiast, so actually finding the time to write about all the things I’m excited about, can be pretty tricky. There is a lot that doesn’t make it to the blog, and instead may be a note in my drafts simply waiting for me to go back to one day.

4 What is your biggest goal at the moment?

I don’t really have any big goals at the moment. I’ve had a few OCR races this year, so I guess training for these. Also in terms of training, I’m really enjoying CrossFit at the moment, and there are a few aspects of that I’d like to work on, such as perfecting my snatch, and working on the pull-ups. But really, I guess my biggest goal at the moment is to just continue to take each day as it comes, trying not to stress, and overthink things. Ooo, also yoga. Specifically flexibility. I really want to improve on that, and nail some kick ass yoga poses.

5 What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self?

Leave the past in the past, and give yourself a break! Don’t compare yourself to somebody else’s highlight reel *cough* social media *cough* .. infact, just plain don’t compare yourself at all.

6 What is your favorite time of year?

I’d love to say summer, but living in Wales, proper lovely summer days can be pretty hard to come by. Haha! I’d probably say Christmas. Just the whole spirit of the season leaves me feeling warm and gooey inside.

7 If you were to go to the Olympics, what would be your sport?

Hmm, I always love watching the triathlon. I think I’d like to give that a go! Haha. I played a bit of netball in College too, so maybe I could brush up my skills and have a bash at that.

8 Are you an early riser or a night owl?

Pre parents days, night owl. But now I’m s mama, early riser. And I’m so grateful for it. I love starting my day early, and going to bed at a normal hour. (Rock & roll mama over here.)

9 Do you have a favorite movie? Why is it your favorite?

This one is a toughie! I have several. For very different reasons. I’ll go with Cinderella. – the modern adaption. I watched it back to back on the flight to the Caribbean for our honeymoon. And it gives me all the feels. To be honest, any film that really makes me feel something. I adore Marley & Me, but it breaks my heart, because of how very much their situation resonates with ours.

10 Where is one place you would love to visit?

Bali. I’d like to go to a retreat, and do some surfing out there. Oh, it would just be the dream!

11 Where would you like to see your blog in the next year?

I’d love the opportunity to work closely with some brands and companies that I feel passionate about.
